Frequently asked questions
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Kaufman Music Center is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We'll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation.
Do I get a receipt?
Yes, we’ll send a receipt to the email address you provide when donating. The receipt will include your donation details, such as the date, amount, and any beneficiary information.
Does my gift have to be in cash?
No. Appreciated securities can be a tax-wise alternative to cash or credit card gifts. If you hold stocks or bonds that have appreciated in value (and that you have held for at least a year), you can give them to Kaufman Music Center and save taxes twice. Take a charitable deduction for their full market value and save the capital gains tax that you would incur if you sold them.
Please contact the Development office at 212-501-3350 or development@kaufmanmusiccenter.org.
How can I give in honor or memory of someone?
A recognition or memorial gift is a wonderful way to honor the legacy of your friend or loved one. If you would like to make such a gift, click on the checkbox below the amount you wish to give that says "Dedicate my donation in honor or in memory of someone." A drop down box will appear where you can note the name of the person you are recognizing and send an e-card if you wish.
How much should I give?
The important thing is that you do give. Every gift is important. Whether your gift is $50, $500, $5,000 or $50,000, the most important consideration is that you choose to make a difference in the lives of our students, our artists, and our musical community. We would be honored to be one of the top three charitable gifts you make this year. That will mean different amounts to different amounts to different people.
My company matches employee charitable gifts, how can I make sure my gift is matched?
We would first recommend reaching out to your human resources department at your company to confirm any guidelines.
Then, please contact the Development office at development@kaufmanmusiccenter.org.
We would be thrilled to assist with any necessary paperwork to make the most of your match!
